About us
About us
Rightseat is built by pilots who were tired of flying with three empty seats behind them.
Why it exists
Small aircraft fly with empty seats
Not occasionally — routinely. The hour costs the same whether there is one person in the aeroplane or four, and there is rarely a good way to find the other three.
Rightseat is that way. It is a noticeboard for flights that are happening anyway, built so that the person offering a seat and the person looking for one can find each other, agree between themselves, and go flying.
What we hold to
A rate is what the flight costs
Every rate is checked against what that flight can cost before a seat goes on the board, and the ceiling is a hard one.
The pilot in command decides
Wherever an arrangement takes shape, the person flying is named as pilot in command. The decision to go rests with them and stays there.
-
How it works →
The whole mechanism, from a free seat to two people who have agreed on a flight.
-
How cost sharing works →
The ceiling, the divisor and a sum you can put your own rate into.
-
Safety and verification →
What is checked, by whom, and what happens to the documents afterwards.
The seat is there either way
Looking around takes no account at all. Look at what is flying, or put the seat beside you on the board.
